1 Peter 4:8 “Above all, let your love for one another be intense, because love covers a multitude of sins.”
Our flesh is weak, and mistakes will happen in our lives. Obviously, it is important to repent and strive to never sin again. Strive to be perfect, as the Lord is perfect. Unfortunately, for most of us, we are “works in progress.” We often repeat our weaknesses.
What to do? Peter has one suggestion: love. We need to love one another, and the Lord, with all our might.
Indeed, love will cover a multitude of our weaknesses. In fact, in St. Paul’s writings we learn that in weakness we are strong. I believe it is “then” that we rely solely on the Lord.
Today I celebrate the birthday of two wonderful people who are full of love: my mother, who is heaven praying for me, and my daughter-in-law.
Lord, I praise You for helping me to love You, my family members, and my neighbors, passionately.
It isn’t always easy to love family members, neighbors, co-workers and friends. What do you need from God to help you find the good in others? We need to love them because God loves them and He wants “you” to love them too!
