John 6:27 “Do not work for food that perishes but for the food that endures for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you.”
Our priorities are often different than what God desires for us. How many times are the desires of our heart actually things of the world: money, position, influence, or power?
Ignatius of Loyola put it well: “We should seek poverty, not riches, insults and scorn, not honor, and humility, not pride.” These priorities are ones that reflect the grace of God in us.
Lord, teach me to work and focus only on priorities that build up Your kingdom and my treasure in heaven. I praise You for the grace to seek Your will.
When is it most difficult to focus on God and His will? Do you realize your perseverance in building the God’s kingdom will be more fulfilling than any treasures on earth?
